Recently, I noticed that I am being conscious with the food I prepare. I found myself avoiding preservatives from processed food and looking for cheaper but healthy alternatives. This makes me happy and contented when experimenting on something. Because I am sure it’s healthy and I won’t waste money if it turns out uneatable due to awful taste (so far there’s no such result yet from my experiments).
This sugarless banana mango yogurt smoothie is very simple and easy to prepare (just like any other smoothies out there) yet full of health benefits. Instead of sugar, I used honey which is healthier than table sugar, here is the honey vs. sugar comparison I found. It says here that honey is more expensive than sugar but it is sweeter than sugar. Thus, small amount of honey is enough for each preparation that makes no big difference in terms of cost. Yogurt has lots of benefits as well. I am amazed how it works in our body after reading this information about yogurt .
Last but not the least, banana and mango are well known for their vitamins & other health benefits but it’s best to know the specific and amazing facts about these two. I am sure you will be encouraged to prepare this at home whether you are on a slimming program, you are in a not so good health condition or simply a health conscious person.
Here are the ingredients and quick procedure.
- 1 medium-sized ripe mango
- 2 medium-sized banana
- ½ cup yogurt, unsweetened & unflavored
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 cup ice cube
- Peel the mango. Make 2 to 3 cuts on both sides towards its seed, horizontally and vertically. Then slice parallel to the seed (this way you’ll get small cube pieces). Put in the blender.
- Peel the banana. Cut into pieces and put in the blender
- Pour the yogurt, honey and ice cubes in the blender.
- Blend until the mixture becomes smooth.
- Pour in the glasses and enjoy!

Quick & easy to prepare onion and apple cider vinegar sauce which can be matched to many types of dishes such as vegetable salad and fried fish.
I used to prepare this onion and apple cider vinegar sauce for the vegetable salad when there is gathering or event at home. The salad usually consists of lettuce, cucumber and carrots with additional sliced onion and tomato.
My ex-boyfriend (my husband) and my former flat mate used to request this from me, they said they really like the taste. Recently, one of our friends requested it for the despedida (gathering or party before someone relocate to another place for quite long period of time or leave the town for good) of another friend. It was my pleasure because it’s very easy to prepare compare to baking another set of cupcakes for a potluck dinner.
This onion and apple cider vinegar sauce is a perfect match to coated fish fillet I posted two weeks ago. I just discovered its versatility that’s why I decided to make a bottle of it and store in the refrigerator. This way, I don’t need to prepare it again and again for different dishes. Read more
Shrimp is my favorite among sea foods. I like most dishes with shrimp and I find it very fast to prepare because it can be cooked in just few minutes. The shrimp recipe below is inspired by one of my friends who love cooking.
She’s been my housemate few years ago. Whenever I see her cooking this sweet chili shrimp, she just usually pours all the ingredients without specific measurement. She doesn’t even use the spoon in putting the sugar. And she doesn’t thaw the shrimp first before cooking, she used to put the frozen skinned shrimp in the hot pan and let it thaw there. She uses butter instead of cooking oil, a lot of it. It tastes good!
Refreshing & Thirst Quenching Lemon Iced Tea
Tea is one of the most common beverages in the world, predominantly popular in specific countries like Turkey, UK (England & Ireland), Russia, Morocco, China and Middle East Asian countries. Here is the recent map of tea consumption for more information.
Tea is served either hot or cold. This can be a healthy substitute for coffee (and soda) since it contains significantly lesser caffeine than coffee and contains antioxidant that protects our body. It has more health benefits than coffee.
Tea is now getting popular in Southeast Asia. Tea with milk is commonly served in Singapore, Malaysia & Thailand. In the Philippines, many Chinese restaurants serve complimentary hot tea. So, those who are tea drinker can take advantage of this treat. Bottomless (drink all you can) iced tea is popular in numerous restaurants, if you think you can drink more than one glass, better to pay for the bottomless (there’s a minimal charge compare to the regular serving). Bottled iced tea is widely available in the supermarket and convenience store that you can easily grab while you are outside during hot sunny day. Read more
Happy Easter Everyone! Hope you are having fun with your family & friends this long weekend.
I should have posted this blog last night but the Black Saturday vigil I’ve attended took so long, it ended at 10pm, had dinner before going back home and did some chores before going to bed.
So much about introduction… let’s now talk about food…
I love food with cheese; cheese cakes, cheese cupcakes, cheesebread, cheeseburger, lasagna, spaghetti with lots of cheese and dishes with cheese. Here in Khartoum, I usually order cheesecake when we are in a restaurant or coffee shop, specifically blueberry cheesecake if available. There are two restaurants here that I could say have tasty cheesecake that I’d love to order, Barista & Spectra . Barista serves a conventional cheesecake with sweet crust at the bottom while Spectra has another variety that will melt if you don’t eat it right away, so better put in the freezer if you plan to eat it later. I haven’t been to all restaurants here yet, I would be glad to know if there are other restaurants where I can buy another variety of cheesecake.
So much about cheesecake, my recipe for today is actually cheese cupcake, hehe, I just couldn’t help my a bit of obsession to cheesecake. My second baking experiment, quite overwhelming at first but it’s easy to prepare and easy to follow once you try it. Read more
